Still waiting...

Still waiting...
Well hello out there...all you peeps in cyberspace land I'm still waiting to be an aunty again.

labourLesley (my little sister) is Term + 4 and has not gone into labour.

This is a photo of the last time I saw her. It was New Years Eve, 2009 and it was so cold, -7C and snowing. This was pre bump and her bloke, Jonny. Amazing what can happen in a couple of years!

She went to see the midwife yesterday and she's keeping mum on her plan of action...literally.

My mum says that she's so secretive that she could easily work for MI5. I tend to agree.

I have this feeling that little sis wants to wait till I fly over from OZ to see her. She's very proud of her bump and I think she'd like her big sister (the midwife) to see it in all its magnificentness!

I have done weekly assessments of bump via Skype and it's been really fun. I feel a real sense of how she's doing and how really well and content she looks.

I have said, however, that no matter what I am not delivering. Those days are well and truly over.

I really LOVE being a midwife and labour ward was my favourite place.

I've delivered so many babies and I remember it all with fond and very vivid memories.

The female body is an amazing thing and delivering babies is soooo wonderful.

But I am looking forward to being an Aunty. Its been way too long. My niece Gemma is now 21 and my nephew Jack is 20. I loved looking after them both as 'littleies'.

My suitcase is packed and I'm flying tomorrow...very long flight...26 hours. So its Blighty here I come. My case is so full of baby things. I've been crocheting up a storm and there's itti bitti nappies http://www.ittibitti.com.au/

and 4 little ducks http://www.4littleducks.com.au/ muslin wraps competing with shoes and clothes. I may have space for a little shopping on my trip...suitcase will be empty and I'm going to a place that has 9 antique bookshops. I shall be in bookshop heaven. Here's a little peak of where I'm going to. It's in the North of England, at the boundaries of the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales and Lancashire. A little piece of heaven.

So I shall be blogging from the other side of the world in a couple of days...very very exciting.

My blogs will be fresh, different, with maybe a new slant on things and definitely with a heavy touch of reality about the fun of new.

I have to share that my sister has never changed a baby's nappy... ever and I have done way too many....watch this space...
